Language, your first key

Administrative Hebrew is not everyday Hebrew. Well prepared, you can turn a barrier into a springboard from your very first weeks.

The real challenge

Why so many Olim feel lost in the first months — and how to anticipate it.

📄 The Hebrew of forms

Administrative documents use formal Hebrew, different from spoken language. Deadlines, rights and appeals are easily lost in translation.

⏱️ The time factor

Every procedure takes longer without the language. Knowing the right words speeds everything up: banking, healthcare, school.

🤝 Autonomy

A few dozen key expressions are enough to take control of your daily life without depending on someone else.

The Ulpan: learning Hebrew through immersion

The intensive Hebrew learning program designed for newcomers.

The Ulpan (אולפן) is an intensive Hebrew course for adults. For new immigrants, it is funded by the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration as part of the rights linked to Oleh status.

✔️ Who is eligible?

  • Olim (new immigrants) and, in some cases, returning citizens
  • Ideally to start within ~18 months of Aliyah
  • The right is generally open for several years after Aliyah
  • Registration via Misrad HaKlita or the municipality of residence
  • English-language Ulpan programs available in several cities

⏳ How long?

~5 monthsDuration of an intensive Ulpan Aleph

5 d / wk≈ 5 hours per day

More flexible formats exist (evening classes, part-time, online) over a longer period.
